Alina's first tooth

Well, she may already be 13 months and walking around, but Alina has only just got her very first tooth, and just to show everyone that she's not one to follow the flock she's decided to cut her top teeth first. Well done little baby xx

Catch up

Again, it's been a while since my last blog. Not too much has happened. Alina s now walking, she took her first steps before she even reached 11months! Now she toddles about everywhere. She turned one last Friday, but still looks like a 6 month old, lol, and she still hasn't got any teeth!
Karl and Trish came over on Sunday with bump (well Trish could hardly leave him/her at home, lol). It was really lovely to see them as it's been well over a year! Good luck with the birth guys if we don't see you before.
And yesterday we went to Chessington as it was the first day of Joe's holiday (1 week so going to try and cram a few days out in). The weather was unbelievably nice, especially considering how it has been so far this summer. The kids had a great time and Layne let us know when he needed to use the toilet (it was our first big trip out with big boy pants on), although he did wee in the car just as we got back to Sainsbury's in Hove, lol, but I still think he did really well, as he's only really just come out of nappies.
Thanks for the use of the camera, Josee, and thanks again for making Alina's birthday cake. I'll get the camera back to you next time I see you.
Well, I'd better go and get Joe out of bed if we are going to do anything with the day, hope everyone's having a nice summer, and I'll try and update this more often from now on....really, I will!

Happy birthday to my firstborn

Well, yesterday was a busy one, Jessi turned 9. She had a great day, with lots of visitors and lots of presents. We got her a pet hamster which she has named Charlie. Somehow we managed to keep him hidden in our room for 5 days! She absolutely loves him, we gave her all her other presents first, then gave her her card with Charlie's birth certificate in it. Her face was a picture. Later on Joe's parents came over, then Mum and Alina (not my Alina, but the original one, lol), with some pressies and then Joe's brother and his wife and kids came over, so Jess got to play with all her new Bratz dolls with Ellie, Layne got to play with Will, and me and Joe got to play guitar hero with Pete and Dee (Pete brought his XBOX guitar too, so we could do two player). Then Jess decided we were going to get dinner from Uncle Sam's, so we did that and it was a great end to a lovely day.
Today is Joe's sister's 17th birthday so we are going over to his parent's for a BBQ and more celebrations.
Before I go, I just want to say that anyone who watched The Butterfly Effect on Channel 4......WTF!!! I have been raving about that film for a while now as it has one of the best endings of any film I've ever seen....well, on DVD anyway. How come when I watched it on TV last night it had a totally wussy happy(ish) ending, but if you watch it on DVD it has the most heartwrenching miscarriage scene of Ashton's character changing the past so that he was never born in the first place? I was really disappointed watching it last night, it ruined the whole film for me. Does anyone know why there are 2 different endings? I'd never have recommended it if i'd known about the soppy cop-out ending.
And in other news...... I just want to say congratulations to my old friend Lell who got married yesterday, I hear it was a lovely ceremony and a wicked reception, have a great time in Kenya and I wish you and your wife every happiness and a great future together x

Quick one

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Life's a big whirlwind of nappies, potty training, school runs, grocery shopping etc. I have found time to upload some recentish pictures, hope everyone is well, hope your leg gets better soon Phoebe (big hug), and Lester, I hope you get well soon xxx

Hi Lester

Well, my little brother is in Australia at the moment. He phoned a couple of days ago, it was 6am Friday over there and 7pm Thursday here, and it was so nice to hear from him. I really worry about him when I don't hear from him for a while. He sounded a bit homesick (and drunk, lol), it'll be weird not seeing him at Xmas (he'll be backpacking in New Zealand). If you read this, Lester, I just want to say that you are doing such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime thing, enjoy every second, we are all very jealous, we miss you loads and loads and think about you all the time and wonder what you're getting up to. Make sure you keep in touch, I want regular updates and lots of photos. Love you lots, have fun, look after yourself xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My little girl's big achievement

Alina rolled over today! I put her on her front and she managed to roll over onto her back. This is much earlier than either of the other two. She's 15 weeks today, I was so proud. We also put her in her door bouncer for the first time and she thought it was great fun.
I can't think of anything else that exciting that has happened recently. It was my birthday last month, I had a really nice day with quite a few visitors, thanks again for the cake Jose, it looked (and tasted) great. Also thanks for entertaining Jess at halloween, she had a great time.
We got rid of our PS2 recently and got ourselves an XBOX 360, it's great, the online content is just superb and the graphics kick the PS2's butt. I haven't really been able to go on it much, what with the kids, but it's still fun to watch Joe on it. Well, Layne's just got up, so I'd better get him some lunch, I'll try to blog more often, but to be honest nothing much is happening at the moment.

A night out

Well, 2 hours anyway. I have been invited to an Ann Summers party on Saturday night, 7:30-9:30. It's only a few doors down the road so I'll still be able to pop back home and feed Alina if she needs me. I'm a bit nervous as I don't think I'll know anyone there (they'll be about 25 of us apparently), but it should be a good laugh, and it's something I can do out of the flat without the kids, it might only be 2 hours and down the road but it's a start. And who knows, I might even spend a few £'ssss!!

New member of the family!

Yes, she arrived last night, bang on her due date! Alina Constance Blakeney, weighing in at a healthy 7lb 15oz (small compared to the other 2 though!). It was a quick home water birth, everything went swimmingly (so to speak), and we are all very proud of her. She was born at 19:43, has dark hair at the moment, but no doubt she'll turn out to be another blondie. She feeds well and slept well last night. I will keep you all updated on our progress (when I get time)!

PASSED FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Yay, clever me, I did it. I took my driving test this morning and passed! It's such a relief as my baby is due in 5 weeks time and if I'd failed I would have had to wait another 9 weeks to take it again. I'm so grateful to my instructor, Lou Gillespie of Streets ahead, I'd recommend her to anyone. I can't wait to get my car and just drive anywhere I like (yes, Josee, your place will be the first destination). I have a car already, but my uncle in Kent has been looking after it for me, I'm just waiting to hear when he'll be able to drop it down to me (soon I hope). So watch out everyone, they've given me a license!!! You've been warned.

Good news.....and bad.

The good news is........I passed my theory test!!!! I was a bit nervous and the baby started kicking me really hard when I was trying to concentrate on the hazard perception part of it. I got 33/35 on the theory questions (needed 30 for a pass) and 59/75 on hazard peception (needed 44 for a pass). After I'd finished the test I was given my result straight away, no horrible waiting period. So well done Me!!
And the bad news......I started to feel a bit ill on the bus on the was home from the test centre (thankfully I felt fine during the test), got home and threw up just before it was time to collect Jess from school (luckily one of the other parents offered to take her home with them). I think what Layne had maybe wasn't down to something he ate, it must've been a tummy bug which I've now picked up, . Hopefully it won't last too long, he seem to shake it off pretty quick, although he still hasn't quite got his appetite back. Fingers crossed Jess n Joe don't go down with it too, Joe's been saying he's not felt right for a couple of days. Still, I passed my theory test so at least that's over and done with, just got the practical to do now.

Nervous

Well, my theory test is tomorrow, and just hope I get lucky and don't get too many hard questions. I've been practicing and keep passing and I've finally memorized the stopping distances. Wish me luck!!!!!
I'm felling really tired today as Layne woke up crying at midnight, I went into his room and was going to lie him down and pop his dummy back in when I noticed a strange dark patch on his sheet. I couldn't figure out what it was at first, but then the smell hit me! He'd been sick! So there I was giving him a bath in the middle of the bath and changing his bedding. Joe got relegated to the sofa and I brought Layne into bed with me (with plenty of towels under him). I was then woken up 8 times over the next 2 hours by him vomiting and then another 4 times throughout the early hours. So I was expecting to be looking after one poorly little toddler today, but he woke up as usual at 7:15 wanting his milk and has been fine since. I guess it must've just been something he ate. He had long nap late morning and is now tucking into his lunch as if nothing happened! I however, am shattered, I'll be having an early night tonight in preperation for the test tomorrow, let's just hope Layne doesn't decide to give me a repeat performance! (Not least because I'm all out of towels!)

General update.

Well, I've booked my driving theory test for the 22nd March at 1pm. My instructor seems to think I'm ready as I always get good scores on the mock tests she's given me, I just have to learn the stopping distances and keep practicing the hazard perception.  So wish me luck, I'll let everyone know whether I passed or not on the day.
The pregnancy's going well, I've got my second scan on the 10th and my next midwife appointment is on the 14th. The baby is moving around a lot, Jess even felt it kick a few days ago!
Layne is saying a few words now......'Goal', 'Poo', and 'bubbles'. And I think he's trying to say 'good boy' but at the moment it sounds like 'guh-guh'.
Jess is now a green belt in karate and still really enjoying it. She's really enjoying being a big sister now that her and Layne can interact a bit more, and she's really looking forward to the new baby coming. Layne rubs my tummy and I've told him there's a baby in there and he says 'awwwww', but I don't think he really understands, he's still a bit too young. I think we're going to have to keep a close eye on him when the baby comes because he's just discovered that if he hits the cat he can make her miaow, I hope he doesn't try the same thing with his little brother or sister, at least the cat can run away (although  she hardly ever does, far too lazy).
Well, I'll try and update this more often, everytime I go online I get sidetracked filling in 'how well do you know your friends?' questionairres  (glances at Jo), lol.

Bad timing.

Well, my little brother, Lester, left for his round the world adventure just over a week ago and is at the moment having a wicked time in India. It sounds like he's met some great people and even got some work as an extra in a Bollywood film! Jealous....me?????? YES!

I was gutted to hear today that my favourite band (well, joint favourite anyway) Pearl Jam,  are going to be playing at Reading festival this year and I'm going to miss it because my baby will only be about a month old! It's not fair, I've aked Joe if he'd mind us postponing the baby until after, but apparently it just doesn't work like that. Next time I'll just have to check the line up before I go and get myself knocked up, lol.
I had a scan a few weeks ago and everything looks fine, although the pregnancy was a week further ahead than I thought, so I'm actually due on the 20th of July, not the 27th! I've got my next scan on the 10th March, I'll let you know how it goes.

Another year, another baby

Well, as you may or may not know, Joe and I are now expecting our 3rd child. We found out on the 5th of Dec, but didn't want to tell everyone too early. It was unexpected, but we are all very excited about the new arrival, although we are going to have our work cut out, Layne has only just turned 1 and is still breastfeeding, it's going to be a lot of hard work looking after 2 babies, but I'm up for a challenge! I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't seen the midwife yet, but I think the baby is due around July 27th and I am about 10 weeks gone. I'll let everyone know how things are progressing, I hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My boy's so big!

Well, Layne reached another major milestone yesterday, he took his first steps! I'm so proud of him, he is 11 months and growing up so fast. This past year has gone way to quick, it's hard to believe that this time last year he was still curled up in my tummy. He's so eager to learn, and is always mimicking his big sister (which isn't always a good thing, lol).

I'm also quite proud of myself, I've had 6 driving lessons so far and have really enjoyed every one. Everything my instructor teaches me seems to stick in my head, (she says I'm like a sponge, lol), I can't wait for my next one tomorrow morning (so you've been warned, stay off the roads, lol)
2005-11-04

Oops!

I forgot to let you know how my night out went. It was a great night, I got to talk to loads of people who I haven't seen for ages, some for about 10 years! Lester got me nicely pissed (thanks Bro), and I didn't wake up with a hang over! Can't wait to do it again.

Rock on

Going out tomorrow night, I'm really excited (how sad is that). I'm getting the red streaks in my hair redone in the morning so that they have the 'Wow' factor. Going to have a really good night and I'll tell you all about it afterwards (unless it turns out to be really uneventful and crap).

Layne's TV debut

It's being shown throughout the day on Sky News, there doesn't seem to be a specific time, but he has been appearing every hour at various times (he's the baby crying at the end of the segment ). Don't worry if you miss it, we have it on video.

Stars!

Just had a really exciting phone call. Trish who runs Layne's babysigners group just called to ask if Layne and I would like to be filmed for Sky News this Friday at the King Alfred Leisure Centre. She said he's very enthusiastic and a pretty little boy and always happy (so Sod's Law, Friday is bound to be the day when he doesn't want to do any signs and is in a grumpy mood). I'll let you know how it goes and when it is going to be aired.
Update: Sky News Saturday 22nd.

Don't stop me now!

Wow, it feels like quite a lot is going on at the moment. I guess it's 'cause MY BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP, and I've been busy trying to decide what to do for it. Also, I start driving lessons again on Monday, MY BIRTHDAY BY THE WAY, I can't wait, I loved it last time and it was a real shame when I had to stop (but it's so bloody expensive).  I just hope that I remember some of it and all the money I spent last year wasn't wasted.
I'm getting my hair cut and coloured on Saturday, A BIRTHDAY PRESENT from my mum, not sure what I'm having done yet, want something either red, black, or red and black, I just hope they don't cut it too short.
In case you didn't know, it's my birthday next Monday (oh, did I mention it already?? ) There doesn't seem to be any good rock nights this Saturday so we're going to go to the Halloween Bash @ HTH on the 29th, don't know where we'll be before that (guess it depends what time I can get the kids settled).  I hope it's a good night as I don't get to go out that often. If you read this I'll expect you to get down there and buy me a birthday drink, lol!
Well I think that's all the news for now, I'd better go and get the dinner on, and remember, MONDAY 24TH OCT........... (if only my Dad had the internet, might remember this year then, lol)

Baby signers

Me and layne have just got back from our first Baby Signers class and it was great. Layne doesn't have any hearing problems, but I've heard baby sign language is a great way to communicate with your baby before they can talk. Layne thought it was really fun, they use props and songs and it's a chance for Layne to meet other babies. He even managed to do some of the signs himself, he was the only one who signed back! (But he was also the oldest by 1 month). Hopefully this will make it a bit easier for us to understand what Layne wants/needs. I'm glad I signed (pardon the pun) up for the course, it runs for 6 weeks and there is lots of course material available. I'll keep you all up to date with our progress.
